Deadly Collision on I-80 Freeway Near Davis
DAVIS, Calif. (Sept. 25, 2023) — A fatal crash on the Interstate 80 Freeway happened Sunday night near State Route 113, just west of Richards Boulevard near Davis.
The two-vehicle crash occurred on the eastbound I-80 around 10 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A driver in a Nissan Sentra was traveling at high speed eastbound on the Interstate 80 Freeway in the No. 1 lane when a second motorist changed lanes directly in front of it.
The driver in the Sentra collided with the left rear end of the Nissan Maxima.
Meanwhile, a woman in her 20s sitting in the back seat of the Maxima was apparently not wearing her seatbelt. She suffered fatal injuries and died following the collision. The Solano County Sheriff Coroner has not yet released her name.
Additionally, the two drivers and two other passengers from the two vehicles were treated for minor to moderate injuries at the hospital. Animal control was also at the scene to take a small “friendly dog.”
Authorities do not suspect alcohol was a factor in the collision, the CHP said.
