Deadly Crash on I-80 in Contra Costa County
HERCULES, Calif. (July 12, 2024) — A fatal car crash happened Friday morning on the Willow Avenue off ramp from eastbound Interstate 80 Freeway at the transition to eastbound Highway 4 in Hercules.
The deadly collision occurred at around 4:24 a.m. on July 12th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A vehicle reportedly crashed into trees and caught on fire, prompting a response from the Contra Costa Fire Department.
At least one person died at the scene of the crash. It’s unknown how many vehicles were involved or how many were injured in the collision.
The Hercules Police Department responded to set up traffic control and an investigation into what happened is underway.
