Man, 31, Killed Changing Tire on I-805 Freeway
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Oct. 6, 2022) – A motorist changing a tire on the Interstate 805 Freeway was struck and killed early Thursday morning near Adams Avenue in San Diego.
The 31-year-old man was struck by an oncoming white Toyota Camry as he worked on his car on Interstate 805, San Diego News 10 reported.
The deadly crash occurred just after 3 a.m. on Oct. 6th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The victim was working on his vehicle on the right shoulder, but was partially in the slow lane of the 805 Freeway. The 22-year-old San Diego driver in the Toyota Camry struck him as he stood in the slow lane.
The driver from the Toyota stopped and called 911 for help.
Sadly, the driver changing his tire was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.
Meanwhile, authorities say that alcohol or drug impairment is not a factor in the crash.
Investigators are working on the case to determine liability.
