2 Killed in Head-on Crash on Highway 16

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — Two people were killed in a head-on crash Thursday night at Jackson Road (Highway 16), east of Excelsior Road in Sacramento County.

The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 8:19 p.m. on Dec. 14th, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.

The drivers of a black, lifted Ford F-250 pickup truck and a Chrysler Town and Country minivan were involved. The eastbound pickup truck driver allegedly veered into the path of the westbound minivan, police said.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to the scene and located a man and woman in the Chrysler who died at the scene. Meanwhile, the pickup truck driver was injured, but expected to survive with minor injuries.

Investigators are working on the case, but preliminary results indicate that drugs and or alcohol were not a factor in the deadly crash.
