One Dead in Three-Vehicle Crash Near Modesto

MODESTO, Calif. (June 2, 2025) — A fatal, head-on crash involving three vehicles occurred early Sunday morning at the intersection of West Main Street and South Moffett Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The multi-vehicle collision was reported at 2:26 a.m. on June 1. Initial reports indicated a Honda Element had overturned onto its roof and two others sustained major front-end damage. The other two vehicles were a 2015 blue Honda Civic and a Dodge Charger.

Authorities confirmed the crash was a head-on collision that impacted both eastbound and westbound lanes. Emergency crews, including American Medical Response and local fire units, responded to the scene. The victim was pronounced dead at 2:42 a.m. by the fire department captain. The individual’s identity has not yet been released.

The roadway was temporarily closed as investigators and tow crews worked the scene. All vehicles were cleared and the road was reopened by 5:54 a.m.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
