Fatal Crash on Bear Mountain Boulevard, Wible Road in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Jan. 7, 2026) — A fatal traffic collision involving a semi-truck and a sport utility vehicle Wednesday morning shut down lanes at Bear Mountain Boulevard and Wible Road in Bakersfield, authorities said.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at approximately 9:30 a.m. on January 7, 2026. The collision involved a semi-truck and a blue Honda CR-V and occurred at the intersection of Bear Mountain Boulevard and Wible Road.

CHP officials reported that the vehicles were blocking traffic lanes following the crash, prompting a response from emergency crews. The Kern County Coroner’s Office was requested to the scene, confirming at least one fatality.

The identity of the person who died has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. It was not immediately clear whether additional occupants were injured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and motorists were advised to avoid the area while authorities worked to clear the scene and reopen the roadway.
