Fatal Crash on SB I-880 in San Jose
SAN JOSE, CA (March 14, 2025) – A fatal crash happened in San Jose early Friday morning on southbound I-880 Freeway at Tasman Drive. One person died in a collision involving the drivers of a black Chrysler and a white Toyota Prius.
At approximately 3:54 AM on March 14th, a two-vehicle collision blocked multiple lanes of traffic, causing significant delays. Debris from the crash was scattered across the roadway, and other vehicles including a white Toyota Highlander SUV struck the debris. Also, yellow 14-foot box truck and a black Honda Accord were among those vehicles involved.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) issued a SigAlert, closing all lanes on SB I-880 at the scene. Emergency response teams, including FSP (Freeway Service Patrol), arrived shortly after the crash.
One person died on scene and several others including one person from the truck and one from the Honda had complaints of pain following the collision.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to clear the scene.
As of 6:43 AM, CHP units were still on the scene, while tow companies were requested to assist in clearing the vehicles involved. Traffic remained backed up for several hours as the investigation continued.
