Fatal Crash on Ladd Road, Tully Road Near Del Rio in Stanislaus County

DUI Suspected in Crash Involving Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Ram Pickup
STANISLAUS COUNTY, Calif. (June 29, 2026) — A 57-year-old Modesto man died, and seven others were injured Saturday night in a multi-vehicle crash on Ladd Road south of Del Rio in Stanislaus County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision, reported around 9:30 p.m. on June 27th, happened just east of Tully Road, according the Modesto Fire Department and CHP officials.
Police responded to the scene where three vehicles had collided and one of them was on fire.
Detectives investigating the crash determined the Modesto man who died had been driving a 2026 Porsche coupe. Authorities believe the man was traveling at a high rate of speed in a westbound direction on Ladd Road.
The Porsche reportedly rear-ended a black 2016 Ram pickup truck occupied by six people, causing the truck to overturn and veer off the roadway. Meanwhile, the Porsche veered into the eastbound lane, where it hit an oncoming white 2023 Mercedes SUV.
Upon impact with the Mercedes, the Porsche caught on fire and became engulfed in flames.
One Death, Three Major Injuries
Paramedics responded and transported seven people to local hospitals.
Unfortunately, the driver of the Porsche did not survive the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. However, Jon Burgess, 38, of Manteca, who was riding with him as a passenger, was airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center with major injuries. Authorities say the two men riding in the Porsche were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Mercedes, Diana Ybarra, 52, of Oakdale, and her passenger, Manuel Ybarra, 53, of Oakdale, were hospitalized with major injuries, despite both wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Ismael Gonzalez, 27, from Manteca, was driving the Ram, which had five passengers, including a 42-year-old woman, two teenage girls ages 14 and 16, and a two-year-old child, police said. The driver was treated for minor injuries, and the other passengers also had minor injuries or were unharmed.
Investigators from the CHP are working to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
