Fatal Crash on Lathrop Road Off-Ramp, Highway 99 in Manteca
MANTECA, Calif. (June 30, 2025) — A fatal crash involving two trucks shut down portions of the Lathrop Road off-ramp from southbound Highway 99 on Monday morning in Manteca.
The collision prompted an extended response from emergency crews and Caltrans, according to the California Highway Patrol.
It happened just after 8:30 a.m. on June 30th, between the drivers of a white sweeper truck and a semi-truck after they collided on the off-ramp. Initial reports described an open phone line from the scene and unclear conditions, but by 10:00 a.m., the crash had been confirmed as a fatality.
Authorities requested lane closures and a street sweeper for cleanup, while emergency personnel from Stockton Fire and other agencies responded. A medical tow was also called to assist with vehicle removal.
CHP initially classified the crash as involving unknown injuries but later updated it to a fatal incident. The name of the deceased has not been released pending family notification.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Drivers experienced delays in the area as crews worked to clear the scene and restore traffic flow. Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes during the closure.
