Fatal Crash on Scooter in San Francisco at Powell and Market Streets

Yebin Kim, 32, of San Francisco, Identified as Woman Killed

(UPDATED 8/13/2026) SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (August 7, 2026) — A driver of a commercial truck struck and killed a person on a stand-up electric scooter Friday morning at Powell and Market streets in San Francisco.

The collision occurred at 8:18 a.m. at Powell Street and Market Street, San Francisco police said. The woman was riding the scooter when a wheel reportedly became stuck in the streetcar tracks, causing her to fall into the path of the oncoming truck. She was then run over by the vehicle.

Police and emergency crews responded and located the woman suffering from a severe head injury down in the roadway. Despite efforts to save the person’s life, they died at the scene. Yebin Kim, 32, of San Francisco, has been identified as the victim of the collision.

Meanwhile, the truck driver was located and cooperated with the investigation into what happened. The truck belonged to Surfside, a canned cocktail company.
