2-Vehicle Car Accident Near Woodleaf Camp
YUBA COUNTY, Calif. (August 16, 2023) — A fatal crash happened Tuesday night on Quincy La Porte Road, just west of the Woodleaf camp in Challenge, an unincorporated community in Yuba County.
A 59-year-old Clipper Mills man is dead and another was arrested on DUI charges after the two-vehicle collision around 7:07 p.m. on August 15th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The man was driving a blue 1995 Chevrolet Blazer that collided with a southbound dark green 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck driven by Kaylob Rice, 22, according to ABC 10 News.
However, it’s unknown at this time what led up to the crash. One of the vehicles wound up 60 feet down an embankment where it landed on its wheels, the CHP said.
The Yuba County Sheriff’s Office responded and one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
One of the drivers was arrested for DUI causing injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries, but released and booked into Yuba County Jail.
Both vehicles were towed and held for evidence. The Dodge Ram had major front-end damage from the traffic accident.
Finally, investigators are working to determine fault for the crash on Quincy La Porte Road.
