Matthew Salazar, 23, of Hemet Dies in Temecula Car Accident
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (Dec. 30, 2024) — Matthew Salazar, 23, of Hemet, died in a crash at Rainbow Canyon Road on Monday in Temecula.
The traffic accident occurred at 12:08 a.m. on Dec. 30th, at Rainbow Valley Boulevard, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner report.
The young man was driving a Honda Civic on the Interstate 15 Freeway before the crash. He reportedly made an unsafe turning movement and went over an embankment. He suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene at 2:15 a.m., the report said.
Police say the man was reportedly talking on his cell phone and the person he was talking was notified the car was in an accident and called 911 for help, according to the Orange County Register.
The circumstances leading up to the collision are unknown at this time, but the California Highway Patrol – Temecula station is heading up the investigation.
