Deadly Ramona Expressway Collision
A driver in a small dark-colored SUV was allegedly traveling at high speed eastbound on the Ramona Expressway. The motorist reportedly attempted to pass another vehicle, but instead hit the center median and veered into oncoming traffic, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said. First, the SUV collided with a utility truck and then the SUV crossed back into the eastbound lanes where another motorist crashed into the SUV.
Both occupants from the SUV died at the scene. Meanwhile, the other two drivers sustained moderate injuries and were taken to the hospital.
Police closed down the Ramona Expressway between Bridge Street and Sanderson Avenue to conduct an investigation into the fatal crash.
Luis Bates was identified by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
