Woman Struck, Killed in Crash on I-80 Bridge
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (Jan. 15, 2024) — A woman was struck by a suspected DUI driver Sunday morning in a fatal crash on the eastbound I-80 on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.
The deadly pedestrian accident followed a two-vehicle collision at around 3:15 a.m. on Jan. 14th, just west of the Yerba Buena Island off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The initial crash happened after a suspected DUI driver in a white Mercedes SUV broke down in the eastbound lanes of the I-80, the San Francisco Standard reports. The victim was driving a blue Honda Civic and crashed into the disabled 2022 Mercedes GLA35 SUV. She exited her Honda and was standing nearby when a third driver in an oncoming gray Honda Civic struck the victim and her vehicle. Authorities say the driver in the gray Honda was also allegedly DUI.
