3 Killed in Crash on S. Union Avenue in Alameda
ALAMEDA, Calif. (Feb. 23, 2024) — Three young men died in a fatal crash Friday morning on South Union Avenue between Lamb and Houghton Road in Alameda.
They were identified as Daniel Alfonso Loaiza Acosta, 20, Kevin Alexander Arredondo Cabrera, 21, and Henry Antonio Maldonado Caballero, 24.
The deadly collision occurred in the southbound lane at around 6:35 a.m. on Feb. 23rd, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported a blue 2004 Mazda 6 sedan was “completely destroyed” in the collision after it crashed into a large tree, but it appears there were no other vehicles involved. Bakersfield Now reports that the vehicle’s front end was completely sheered off and wound up roughly 30 feet away from the back end of the vehicle.
All three male occupants of the vehicle died at the scene of the crash.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the crash in the 12101 to 12499 block of South Union Avenue in Alameda.
