2 Killed in West Sacramento Crash on Jefferson Boulevard
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Two people were killed and their children were injured late Monday night in a collision in West Sacramento.
UPDATED: Anila Afzili, 29, of West Sacramento, was identified as the woman who died by the Sacramento County Sheriff Coroner.
Additionally, a suspected DUI driver allegedly caused the fatal crash, leaving two children now without their parents.
The crash happened about 11:32 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 15th, according to the West Sacramento Police Department.
The suspected drunk driver crashed head on into a car traveling on Jefferson Boulevard occupied by a family including the parents and two children.
The tragedy took place just south of Locks Drive. While it’s unknown what led to the crash, a couple and their two young children were hit by the suspect. The parents died in the crash on scene and their children were hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.
2 Children; Suspected DUI Driver are Hospitalized
Meanwhile, the suspected DUI driver suffered serious injuries in the crash. Paramedics transported the person to a hospital.
Furthermore, West Sacramento police are heading up the investigation into the accident. Investigators believe the driver who caused the crash was likely under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
There was no further information about what happened. The Sacramento County Sheriff Coroner has not identified the man who died.
