Deadly, 2-Vehicle Collision on I-280 in Daly City
DALY CITY, Calif. (August 16, 2024) — A fatal Daly City car accident happened Friday on the Interstate 280 Freeway, just south of the John Daly Boulevard.
The two-vehicle collision occurred on southbound I-280 at 8:07 a.m. on August 16th, according to the California Highway Patrol report.
The drivers of a Volvo sedan and a dark grey 2003 Honda Accord were involved. The Honda reportedly overturned in the collision and the vehicles were blocking the numbers one and two lanes of the freeway.
Firefighters responded and began a rescue operation to free one person trapped in a vehicle, but unfortunately the person died following the crash.
There were a few tree branches down in the far left lane that were removed by Caltrans crews using chainsaws.
Tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles from the freeway.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the crash on the 280 Freeway.
