Passenger Killed in Collision Near Treasure Island
San Francisco, CA (June 19, 2022) – One person died, and several others suffered injuries following a traffic accident that occurred on Interstate 80 at the Bay Bridge.
The East Bay Times News reported two vehicles collided on the freeway near Treasure Island. Preliminary investigation revealed a 2007 Infiniti M45 stopped for an unknown reason along Interstate 80 at the Bay Bridge. Shortly after the sedan stopped, a 2014 Nissan Frontier slammed into the back of the car.
The force from the impact resulted in significant damage to the Infiniti. When emergency crews arrived at the site, they found one passenger in the sedan unconscious. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the victim but he sadly succumbed to his injuries and died. Authorities only identified the fatal victim as a 22-year-old Antioch resident.
Authorities added three other people in the Infiniti sustained serious injuries as a result of the wreck. Medical personnel transported the patients to the hospital for treatment.
According to the article published online, the 22-year-old female behind the wheel of the Infiniti showed signs of intoxication. Police eventually arrested San Francisco woman on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Further investigation is ongoing on the deadly crash on Interstate 80 at Bay Bridge.
