Woman Killed, One Injured in 2-Vehicle Crash in Fontana
FONTANA, Calif. (February 23, 2022) – A fatal Fontana car accident left one dead and one injured early Saturday morning on Sierra Avenue, just south of Jurupa Avenue.
Karen Carrillo, 22, of Riverside, died in the early-morning collision with another motorist at 2:48 a.m. on Feb. 19th, according to On Scene TV.
The crash took place when one of the drivers reportedly veered into the path of the other motorist.
Karen Carrillo was traveling in her car on Sierra Avenue when the head-on crash occurred.
She became trapped in the wreckage following the two-vehicle collision.
Police, firefighters and paramedics responded to help all those involved in the crash. They extricated at least one of the two injured people from the vehicles, but sadly Karen Carrillo died at the scene.
Meanwhile, a second person suffered undisclosed injuries in the collision and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators closed down Sierra Avenue to piece together evidence and determine fault for the crash.
The cause of the Fontana crash remains under investigation.
