Michelle Lawrence, 28, Killed; 4 Injured in Collision
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (Jan. 6, 2025) — Michelle Lawrence, 28, of Fresno, died Saturday in a crash involving a suspected DUI driver at Floral and Willow avenues in Fresno County.
Four others were injured in the crash between two vehicles at 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 4th, 2025, according to ABC 30 News.
Saul Galvez Diaz, 24, was driving a Toyota with two passengers. The three were heading eastbound on Floral Avenue when he reportedly crossed over the center line to turn left onto Willow Avenue.
However, the driver went too far and collided with a 61-year-old woman and her passenger who were heading westbound in a Nissan, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Paramedics responded and transported both drivers and all of their passengers to the hospital, but unfortunately, the young man’s female passenger died at Community Regional Medical Center. Police said she was not wearing a seatbelt. Also, a 9-year-old girl who was wearing her seatbelt in the Toyota was treated at the same hospital for major injuries.
Furthermore, the woman driving the Nissan and her passenger were also taken to CRMC for treatment of moderate injuries.
Investigators determined the driver of the Toyota was under the influence of alcohol.
The driver will face DUI charges after he is cleared at the hospital for serious injuries.
