Woman Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 99 in Fresno
FRESNO, Calif. (April 26, 2022) — A woman died amid three separate Fresno chain-reaction collisions on Highway 99 Tuesday morning after she exited her crashed vehicle near East North Avenue.
The collision occurred about 3:15 a.m. on April 26th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Initially, the woman was involved in a solo-vehicle collision about 3 a.m. on Highway 99. She reportedly exited her white Dodge Stratus after a second vehicle crashed and overturned in the same area. As she went to check on the second motorist, other cars hit the stopped vehicles and they were pushed into the woman. She suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
All together there were three collisions. The first was the solo crash, the second involved five vehicles and a fatality and the third involved two vehicles and at least one of them fled the scene. One of the motorists involved was reportedly driving recklessly prior to the crash. Also, one vehicle overturned in the center divider and landed on its roof.
Also, two small dogs from the Dodge Stratus were uninjured and taken by animal control.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault for the Fresno crash on Highway 99.
