Big Rig Truck, Car Crash at Fresno Intersection
FRESNO, Calif. (Nov. 14, 2022) — Gerardo Garcia, 28, of Caruthers, and Rafael Hernandez, 68, of Fresno, died in a car accident happened Monday morning at the intersection of West Kamm Avenue and South Jameson Avenue near Caruthers.
Two people died and one suffered injuries in the collision occurred about 7:04 a.m. on Nov. 14th, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
A man driving a semi-truck was headed north on Jameson Avenue. He allegedly failed to stop at a posted stop sign and collided with a Toyota Camry, according to ABC 30 News. The engine and parts of the vehicles were scattered across the roadway. Additionally, the Toyota wound up off the roadway in a nearby grape vineyard and the truck blocked the street.
Cal Fire sent paramedics to help those hurt in the crash, but the driver from the Toyota identified as Gerardo Garcia died at the scene. A man from the big rig truck identified as Rafael Hernandez also died following the crash. Both men in the truck were not wearing seat belts, authorities said.
Meanwhile, tow trucks removed at least one of the damaged vehicles from the freeway.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the fatal crash on Kamm Avenue.
