Pedestrian Killed in Fullerton Collision; Driver Arrested
FULLERTON, Calif. (August 20, 2021) – A fatal Fullerton pedestrian accident involving a suspected DUI driver happened Thursday night at Chapman Avenue and Victoria Drive.
Additionally, the collision happened about 9:13 p.m. on Thursday, August 19th at the Fullerton intersection, according to the Fullerton Police Department.
A driver believed to be under the influence of drugs, struck an unidentified man attempting to cross southbound in the eastbound lanes of Chapman Avenue near Annin Avenue. An eastbound driver struck the victim in the street. The victim suffered traumatic injuries and died at the scene. The driver stopped and cooperated with the police investigation.
Drugged Driving Arrest in Fullerton
Meanwhile, Fullerton Police suspected the driver was under the influence of drugs. They consulted with a drug recognition expert to conduct a field DUI investigation that confirmed drugs were present. Subsequently, police arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI, police said.
Investigators seek to determine the cause of the fatal Fullerton pedestrian accident and will confirm fault. Also, the victim’s identity will be released by the Orange County Sheriff Coroner.
