Solo-Vehicle Crash on State Route Highway 152
GILROY, Calif. (May 1, 2023) — A 24-year-old Los Banos woman died in a Gilroy crash occurred Monday on Highway 152 at Bloomfield Avenue.
The solo-vehicle collision happened on the eastbound side of SR-152 around 4 a.m. on May 1st, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported a grey 2014 BMW 328i occupied by two young women crashed into a tree on the right shoulder of State Route 152. Both occupants became trapped in the vehicle.
Paramedics and firefighters responded with police to the crash scene. The 23-year-old Los Banos woman driving the BMW was transported to a hospital with undisclosed injuries. However, her passenger, a 24-year-old Los Banos woman, died at Regional Medical Center. Her identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office after her relatives are notified.
A tow truck responded to remove the damaged BMW from the roadway.
Meanwhile, investigators are piecing together what happened and will determine fault for the crash on Highway 152 in Gilroy.
