Deadly Semi-Truck Crash Near Highway 101 in Goleta
GOLETA, Calif. (August 15, 2024) — A fatal two-vehicle car accident happened in Goleta on Thursday afternoon on Highway 101 near Las Varas Canyon Road in Santa Barbara County.
The traffic accident occurred on southbound US 101 at around 12:34 PM on August 15th 2024, near Las Varas Coastal Ranch, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A black Ford Expedition and a semi truck collided Thursday afternoon due to unknown circumstances on Highway 101 in Goleta, California. CHP reported that a male passenger involved in the accident was laying on the right side of the roadway. Several vehicles saw the accident occur and pulled over to assist. One party was reported to be unresponsive.
A passenger involved in the accident did pass away at the scene. The Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office was called on the highway crash scene as well as with the coroner. Paramedics also responded and located those with injuries and transported them to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries.
Finally, investigators are working to determine who is at fault for fatal truck accident in Goleta California that occurred on Highway 101 at Las Varas Canyon Road.
