Deadly Crash at San Francisquito Canyon and Spunky Canyon Roads
GREEN VALLEY, Calif. (Nov. 19, 2024) — A fatal pedestrian accident happened in Green Valley Tuesday morning on San Francisquito Canyon Road, just north of Spunky Canyon Road.
The traffic accident occurred around 6:45 a.m. on Nov. 19th, near the Green Valley Market and Gas Station, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported a black Toyota Camry struck the pedestrian at the intersection. This intersection has stop signs in all directions for traffic.
Police and paramedics responded to help the injured person, but unfortunately they died at the scene.
Meanwhile, police requested a hard closure for Francisquito Canyon Road between Spunky Canyon Road and Elizabeth Lake Road.
A witness called police after the crash to report that “he saw a light grey Toyota Camry before Green Valley at high speeds pass over double yellow and then he came down to Green Valley and saw the Toyota pulled over with car debris in the roadway. Then he was advised of a traffic collision that involved a pedestrian.”
This intersection has been the scene of numerous collisions in the past. Roughly two years ago, one person died and two others were critically injured in a head-on collision here. Three years ago, one person was critically injured in a rollover crash at the intersection after taking a turn too fast.
Investigators are working to determine fault for today’s deadly pedestrian accident.
