EARLIMART, Calif. (March 11, 2019) — A pedestrian was struck and killed Sunday night by an oncoming Greyhound bus on Highway 99 near Earlimart in Tulare County.

The crash was reported about 9 p.m. on March 10th near Avenue 24, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

The bus was reportedly traveling northbound on Highway 99 on route to Fresno at the time of the crash. The bus driver told authorities he was merging into a lane when he struck the man who had just walked from the median into the roadway.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. None of the 23 passengers aboard the Greyhound bus were hurt in the crash.

Police say the driver never saw the victim prior to impact and he is cooperating with investigators.
