Man, 21, Killed in Collision on State Route 198
HANFORD, Calif. (July 19, 2024) — A 21-year-old man died in a crash on Highway 198 and 6th Avenue early Thursday morning in Hanford.
The deadly crash occurred at around 5 a.m. on July 18th, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The young man was driving a silver Honda Accord eastbound on Highway 198. Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was southbound on 6th Avenue.
The pickup truck driver stopped at the stop sign and then drove onto Highway 198 into the path of the oncoming Honda.
The two vehicles collided and the Honda overturned several times and landed in a dirt lot across the highway. The pickup truck also overturned into a nearby irrigation canal and was partially submerged on its right side.
Paramedics responded and confirmed the death of the 21-year-old driver from the Honda on scene. Meanwhile, the pickup truck driver was taken to Kaweah Health Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Investigators are working on the case, but at this time drugs and or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the Hanford crash on Highway 198.
