Teenage Boy, Man Struck by Vehicle on El Segundo Blvd.
HAWTHORNE, Calif. (Jan. 9, 2023) – A driver struck and killed a 13-year-old boy crossing El Segundo Boulevard with a man and a girl on Sunday night.
The deadly crash occurred about 8:35 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 8th, according to the Hawthorne Police Department. The man and the minors had just left a nearby laundry facility prior to the collision, according to KTLA News.
The boy and girl were crossing the roadway with the man at the same time a westbound vehicle was approaching them. The vehicle struck the man and boy, killing the child and leaving the man with non-life threatening injuries. The teenage boy died at the crash scene and was identified by the Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner.
The motorist involved stopped and is cooperating with authorities.
Police are piecing together what happened, but are asking the public to call them if they witnessed the collision or have any surveillance footage of the crash.
