Fatal Head-on Crash Cuddy Valley Road near Frazier Park

KERN COUNTY, Calif. (Sept. 15, 2026) — A 55-year-old Los Angeles woman died in a head-on crash Sunday afternoon with a truck on Cuddy Valley Road near Frazier Park in Kern County.
According to a California Highway Patrol dispatch log the deadly collision occurred around 2:20 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
Police responded to the crash site involving a pickup truck and a sedan on Cuddy Valley Road, just west of Ivins Road.
Sean Thompson, 57, of Frazier Park, was driving a Ford F-250 pickup truck eastbound on Cuddy Valley Road when the westbound Toyota Echo driven by the woman reportedly veered into his path. Detectives working on the case determined the Toyota veered off the roadway onto the right shoulder, then turned left towards oncoming traffic into the path of the Ford.
The driver of the Ford told authorities he attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to, and the two vehicles collided head-on. It’s unknown if Mr. Thompson was injured or hospitalized at this time. Meanwhile, the pickup truck had moderate front-end damage, while the Toyota sedan was totaled in the crash. Both vehicles came to rest off the side of the roadway.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
