3 Vehicles Involved in Collision on State Route 12
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. (May 29, 2024) — One person is dead after a head-on crash Tuesday afternoon on Highway 12 near Guard Road in San Joaquin County.
The multi-vehicle crash occurred at around 4:10 p.m. on May 28th, just west of Guard Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The drivers of a silver Volkswagen Passat reportedly crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a blue Honda Accord head-on .
Next, a driver in a silver Toyota Prius also crashed into the cars and went off the roadway into a ditch.
Paramedics responded and confirmed the death of the driver from the Volkswagen.
Meanwhile, the Honda driver suffered major non-life-threatening injuries and the Prius driver had minor injuries.
Authorities noted that all of the motorists were wearing seatbelts and airbags deployed in all vehicles.
Investigators are working to determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
