Los Banos Man, 77, Killed in Collision
SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (August 30, 2024) — A 77-year-old Los Banos man died early Friday in a head-on crash on Highway 156 near Flint Road in San Benito County.
The two-vehicle collision occurred around 6:30 a.m. on August 30th, according to the California Highway Patrol and KION News.
The driver of a Nissan Frontier pickup truck was heading eastbound when his vehicle swerved to the left and entered the westbound lane. The Nissan crashed head-on into a Chevrolet Street Rod driven by an unidentified, 77-year-old Los Banos man.
The elderly man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, but the driver of the Nissan survived with undisclosed injuries.
Investigators do not suspect alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the fatal crash on Highway 156, however, the case remains under investigation and witnesses are asked to contact the CHP.
