Deadly Collision on State Route 4 in Discovery Bay
DISCOVERY BAY, Calif. (August 16, 2023) — A fatal head-on crash on Highway 4 happened Wednesday morning, just east of Discovery Bay Boulevard.
The three-vehicle collision occurred in the westbound lanes around 7:10 a.m. on August 16th in Discovery Bay, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported a driver in a grey Acura was attempting to pass slower-moving vehicles when the car collided with a white work truck and a grey Toyota Camry.
One of the drivers suffered severe injuries and died at the scene. Others were injured in the collision, but there were no further details.
Meanwhile, police issued a SigAlert for State Route 4 for roughly an hour due to the investigation and clean up.
Finally, investigators are working to determine fault for the fatal crash on Highway 4.
