Fatal Head-on Crash on Forty Mile Road, Dairy Road in Plumas Lake

YUBA COUNTY, Calif. (August 28, 2026) — A fatal head-on collision occurred late Thursday night on Forty Mile Road, just south of Dairy Road in the Plumas Lake area, according to the California Highway Patrol. The deadly crash happened at approximately 11:23 p.m. on August 27, 2026, in a rural area between Plumas Lake and Wheatland, the report said.
Authorities reported that a black van and a gray Honda Civic were involved in the head-on crash. Emergency services were dispatched promptly, with several units arriving on the scene by 11:39 p.m. The roadway was reportedly blocked to facilitate the landing of an air ambulance, as noted in the official logs.
Unfortunately, the collision resulted in one fatality. The individual has not been publicly identified pending notification of next of kin. Reports indicated that parties involved in the crash may have been trapped within their vehicles, but the call was disconnected before further information could be obtained.
