Fatal Head-on Crash on Mariposa Road in Stockton

STOCKTON, Calif., (Sept. 2, 2026) — A tragic head-on collision resulted in a fatality on Mariposa Road on Wednesday evening in Stockton.

The fatal collision occurred on Sept. 2nd around 6:16 p.m. near 15034 East Mariposa Road. According to witness reports and the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a tan Dodge Dakota pickup truck collided head-on with a black Honda CRV. The vehicles reportedly blocked both eastbound lanes following the crash.

Emergency personnel, including the Stockton Fire Department and medical teams, were promptly dispatched to the scene. Initial reports indicated that at least one individual involved in the crash was unresponsive. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, one party succumbed to their injuries. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

Authorities closed both lanes on Jacktone Road to facilitate the investigation and the removal of the vehicles. The Honda CRV sustained major front-end damage, necessitating the involvement of evidence tow services to clear the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by local law enforcement to determine the exact cause and contributing factors. The CHP urges any witnesses with information about the incident to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
