2 Killed, 2 Injured in Crash Near Reedley; Driver Arrested
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (Dec. 4, 2023) — Two people were killed, two were critically injured in a crash involving a suspected DUI driver Sunday night on Road 56 near Reedley.
The two-vehicle crash occurred just after 6 p.m. on Dec. 3rd on Road 56 near Avenue 430, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported driver Blake Benham, 43, of Dinuba, was driving a white Ford pickup truck and allegedly drifted into oncoming traffic before a head-on crash with a blue Nissan Rogue SUV occupied by four people.
Paramedics responded, but two people from the Rogue died at the scene and two others from the SUV were critically injured. They were both transported by ambulances to Community Regional Medical Center. Meanwhile, the identities of the people who died were not released at this time.
Blake Benham, who is the principal at John F. Kennedy Elementary School in Dinuba, sustained minor injuries and was treated by paramedics. Police later arrested him and booked him into the Tulare County Pre-Trial Facility. He faces driving under the influence and manslaughter charges.
