1 Dead, 5 Injured in Hit-and-run Crash in the Yountville, Napa Area
YOUNTVILLE, Calif. (June 10, 2024) — A fatal head-on crash on Silverado Trail happened Saturday afternoon near the Silverado Vineyards, just east of Yountville.
The two vehicle collision occurred at around 4:20 p.m. on June 7th and involved a hit-and-run driver in the Napa Valley area, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred in front of 6121 Silverado Trail, between Oak Knoll and Yountville Cross Road, just north of Napa, the CHP report said.
A driver with four passengers in a Toyota Sienna minivan was allegedly traveling southbound on Silverado Trail. For unknown reasons, the driver reportedly crossed over into the path of a northbound BMW X3 SUV. That’s when both vehicles collided, leaving a woman from the minivan dead and five others injured. She was later identified as Hipolita Perez, 46, of Fairfield.
The driver of the southbound vehicle reportedly fled the scene on foot, but police are searching for the suspect.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported five people from the two vehicles to hospitals for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
One of them was a 19-year-old with major injuries who was riding in the minivan. Two of the others included a 62-year-old female passenger from the BMW who had major injuries and the SUV’s 62-year-old male driver with minor injuries.
Finally, the California Highway Patrol is heading up the investigation.
