Fatal Head-on Hemet Crash Sanderson Ave; Danny Guajardo Dead
HEMET, California (July 5, 2017) — Danny Guajardo, 36, of Hemet died and two others were injured Saturday night in a collision between two cars on Sanderson Avenue, roughly 160 feet south of Acacia Street, according to a report by the Press Enterprise.
The fatal head-on collision took place on Saturday, July 1 about 4:37 p.m. in the southbound lanes. Police say that Guajardo’s 1998 Honda Civic veered over the double-yellow lines and crashed head-on into a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe. The Hyundai was in the turning lane on the northbound side of the roadway.
Paramedics rushed Guajardo to the Inland Valley Medical Center, but he died roughly two hours later at 6:22 p.m., the coroner said. A 61-year-old passenger in his vehicle was taken to hospital with major injuries. The driver of the Hyundai was also taken to hospital and listed in stable condition.
The Hemet Police Department is heading up the investigation into the tragedy and initial findings indicate that Guajardo may have been under the influence of drugs and or alcohol, according to a press release by the Hemet Police Department.
