Man, 55, Killed in Crash on State Street in Hemet
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (Dec. 3, 2024) — A 55-year-old Hemet man riding a motorcycle died in a crash involving a pickup truck Sunday on North State Street near the entrance to the LockAway Storage facility.
It happened around 12:48 p.m. on Dec. 1st, in the 1100 Block of N. State Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner.
Both the truck and motorcyclist were traveling southbound on State Street. The driver in the white pickup truck was pulling a fifth-wheel trailer and reportedly made a wide turn from the left side of the road to enter the RV storage parking lot on the right side.
The truck driver turned right in front of the oncoming motorcyclist as he traveled in the right lane. The rider crashed into the passenger side door of the pickup truck. The bike then became lodged underneath the back right wheel of the pickup truck, a photo on the Hemet Crime Society Facebook page shows.
Paramedics responded and transported the injured motorcycle rider to Riverside University Health Systems, but he died less than an hour later at 1:33 p.m., the report said.
Investigators with the Hemet Police Department are heading up the case and will determine fault for the fatal motorcycle crash on State Street in Hemet.
