Deadly Crash at Highway 99 and Avenue 7
MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (Sept. 30, 2021) — A fatal Highway 99 crash at Avenue 7 happened early Thursday morning near Herndon in Madera County.
The collision took place about 5:13 a.m. on Sept. 30th at Avenue 7, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP reported a white Honda and a gray Chevrolet S10 pickup truck collided in a head-on crash.
Paramedics with Cal Fire responded and located the driver in the truck severely injured. Soon after, the CHP notified the coroner to respond as the motorist succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
Meanwhile, they also requested animal control to respond due to a dog found in one of the driver’s vehicles.
Police closed down the east side of Avenue 7 between Highway 99 and Road 32. Police diverted traffic away from the crash scene. Both vehicles required tow trucks.
An investigation is underway to determine fault for the deadly crash on Highway 99.
