HILLSBOROUGH, Calif. (July 12, 2023) — A fatal crash in Hillsborough happened Wednesday on the southbound Interstate 280 Freeway, just south of the Black Mountain Road off ramp.
The collision occurred around 5:36 a.m. on July 12th, according to the California Highway Patrol report.
A driver in a grey Nissan Altima reportedly crashed into a metal guardrail due to unknown circumstances, the report said. It’s unknown at this time if any other motorists are involved.
Police issued a SigAlert due to the crash blocking the fast lane.
Paramedics responded and pronounced one person deceased at the scene. An ambulance may have transported a second person to a hospital.
The car was found stuck to the guardrail and had a blown out transmission. A tow truck removed the damaged vehicle from the scene.
Meanwhile, investigators are working on the case to determine its cause and liability.
