Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Collision in Hyde Park
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 5, 2023) – A 50-year-old man riding a bicycle died in a hit-and-run crash Wednesday night at Vernon and Sixth avenues in the Hyde Park area of Los Angeles.
Police are now searching for the driver and the vehicle involved in the deadly collision that happened at 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 4th, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Division.
The victim had been riding his bicycle eastbound on Vernon Avenue when a driver came from behind him and struck him. The man fell off the bike and suffered major injuries, police said.
Meanwhile, the motorist failed to stop and help him, LAPD officials said.
Paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene. He was later identified as Jacinto Ayala Gurrola, 51, by the Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner.
At this time there is no description of the suspect or the vehicle.
An investigation is underway by the Los Angeles Police Department.
