Stranded Motorist, 45, Struck and Killed by Vehicle
CHP received a call about a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle at 10:28 p.m., in the eastbound lanes of the freeway.
In a report by UT San Diego, CHP said a semi truck driver called 911 to report a person with a flashlight lying on the 8 freeway near La Posta Road.
The victim, 45-year-old man from Phoenix, Arizona, was walking to the Golden Acorn Casino after his vehicle ran out of gas when he was hit. He died at the scene.
The name of the deceased has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver involved fled the area. The suspect vehicle possibly sustained front-end damage following the accident.
