Fatal Hit-and-run Crash West 60th Street in South Los Angeles

Driver Killed in South LA Crash

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Jan. 8, 2024) – One person died in a two-vehicle, hit-and-run crash over the weekend on West 60th Street at Broadway in South Los Angeles.

The second driver survived, but fled the scene on foot after the 9:25 p.m. crash on Saturday, Jan. 6th, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department and KFI News.

Firefighters responded to the 200 block of West 60th Street and found one person trapped in the wreckage, the LAFD said. They extricated the injured person and paramedics transported them to a hospital where they later died. Meanwhile, the other motorist fled the scene without stopping to help the victim.

The Los Angeles Police Department is heading up the investigation. Preliminary results indicate that one of the drivers was heading north on Broadway when the second vehicle made a right-hand turn onto Broadway from westbound 60th Street. The driver in the westbound vehicle struck the first driver and then the surviving motorist fled.

There is no description of the suspect at this time and the case remains under investigation.
