Two drivers struck and killed a woman and one of the drivers fled the scene, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Suspect Flees Scene of Long Beach Pedestrian Accident

A driver in a red pickup truck was first to hit the woman at Fourth Street and The Promenade. The truck dragged the woman as it traveled westbound on Fourth Street. She eventually became dislodged from the vehicle. However, the driver in the red pickup truck fled the scene without stopping to help her. The suspect headed away from the Long Beach pedestrian accident in a southbound direction from Fourth Street to Pine Avenue, police said.

Next, a driver in a Chevrolet Camaro also struck the woman and dragged her to Pine Avenue. This driver, however, stopped and cooperated with police and the investigation. The driver in the Camaro had a valid driver’s license and police do not suspect alcohol, drugs, distracted driving or speeding were factors. Not citations or arrests have been made.

Investigators, however, are still searching for the suspect in the red pickup truck.

Witnesses may contact the Long Beach Police Department’s Collision Investigation Detail at 562-570-7355 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
