Man, 20, Riding Dirt Bike Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in South Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 17, 2022) – A 20-year-old Los Angeles man riding a dirt bike died in a hit-and-run car crash in the Vermont Square area of Los Angeles.
The deadly crash happened about 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16th at 54th and Cimarron streets, the Los Angeles Police Department‘s South Traffic Division reports.
Authorities say the man was traveling eastbound on 54th street on the dirt bike behind a dark-colored sedan. The driver in the car suddenly made a unsafe movement, leading to the bike crashing into the back of the car, the LAPD said.
During the crash, the motorcycle rider was thrown off the bike and landed on the pavement. However, the driver in the car failed to stop and left the scene without helping the victim.
Paramedics responded and transported the injured rider to California Hospital, but he later died of his injuries.
Meanwhile, the city of Los Angeles offers a $50,000 reward to anyone who provides them with information that helps them identify, arrest and convict a hit-and-run motorist.
