Highway 67 Temporarily Closed Following Deadly Hit-and-Run

Lakeside, CA (May 19, 2025) – A fatal hit-and-run motorcycle crash early Sunday morning led to the closure of Highway 67 in both directions as authorities investigated the scene.

The incident occurred shortly after 1:00 a.m. on May 19th near Willow Road. According to reports, two motorcyclists were heading northbound on the highway when one was struck by a white SUV, which subsequently veered off the road and collided with a streetlight.

The SUV’s driver then abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot, prompting an active search by law enforcement.

In response, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) issued a traffic alert and closed the highway in both directions to allow for a full investigation and to clear the wreckage.

The report did not mention the name, gender, or age of the motorcyclist who died in the crash. However, the San Diego Medical Examiner will release the person’s name after his or her relatives are notified.

Authorities reopened the roadway at approximately 3:54 a.m., following several hours of closure.

As of now, no arrests have been reported. Anyone with information is urged to contact local law enforcement.
