Deadly Crash in the Azalea Hollywood Park Area
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Oct. 3, 2023) — A fatal pedestrian accident happened early Tuesday on the northbound Interstate 805 Freeway at the northbound transition to State Route 15 in San Diego.
The CHP reported the hit-and-run collision at around 4:38 a.m. on Oct. 3rd.
A driver in a black Chevrolet pickup truck reportedly struck a body in the No. 1 lane of the freeway, the California Highway Patrol reports. It appears the pedestrian was previously struck by a driver who fled the scene.
Police responded and located a person already deceased at the scene.
Authorities closed down the northbound transition to SR-15. Caltrans issued a SigAlert for two hours to allow police to investigate what happened.
The victim’s name, age, and gender will be released by the San Diego Medical Examiner after relatives are notified.
