Fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident Hesperian Boulevard in San Lorenzo

Suspect Arrested Vehicular Manslaughter, Hit-and-run Charges

SAN LORENZO, Calif. (Nov. 20, 2023) — A 56-year-old man died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Hesperian Boulevard on Sunday in San Lorenzo.

Also, police arrested a 20-year-old Hayward man who fled the scene of the 8:52 a.m. crash on Nov. 19th, just south of Bockman Road, according to East Bay Times.

The victim was reportedly crossing Hesperian Boulevard on Sunday morning when a northbound 2007 Ford Mustang struck him outside of a marked crosswalk. The black Mustang continued driving away, the California Highway Patrol said.

The unidentified victim sustained major injuries and died at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver parked his vehicle in a residential area roughly a half mile away and reportedly walked back to the crash scene. Alameda County sheriff’s deputies located the unoccupied vehicle and when the suspect returned to the car they arrested him. Police do not suspect drugs and or alcohol were not a factor in the collision.

The driver was charged with felony hit-and-run causing death and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. He was booked at the Santa Rita Jail and held in lieu of $85,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
