Man, 70, on Bike Killed in Crash at Magnolia and Atlanta in Huntington Beach
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (Sept. 11, 2024) — A 70-year-old Huntington Beach man died last month in a bicycle accident involving a Jeep on Magnolia Street and Atlanta Avenue.
The deadly crash occurred at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 3rd, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD).
Police responded to the crash scene where a bicyclist and a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee collided due to unknown circumstances. .
The 70-year-old Huntington Beach man suffered severe injuries and was transported to a hospital where he later died.
Meanwhile, the 49-year-old Huntington Beach woman driving the Jeep stopped and cooperated with authorities.
Drugs and or alcohol impairment does not appear to be a factor, police said.
Investigators were told the man on the bicycle allegedly drove through a red traffic light while traveling southbound on Magnolia Street. The Jeep was heading eastbound on Atlanta when the two collided.
The HBPD Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is handling the investigation.
